You can self-serve the change online up to 24 hours before scheduled departure, or via an agent up to 2 hours before — and Ryanair is one of the few European airlines that lets you transfer a ticket to a completely different person.

There is one free window: within 48 hours of booking you can correct up to 3 characters, or swap the first and last names, at no charge through My Booking. On promotional fares the maths can invert: a £29 seat with a £115 name-change fee costs more to fix than to replace. Before paying anything, price a brand-new ticket on the same flight — if it is cheaper than the fee, the rational move is to buy new (or resell the old seat) rather than correct it.
